Go Original: Spectrefest
In 2018, Mike experienced the heartbreaking loss of his older brother, Jason, due to complications from surgery related to ulcerative colitis. An avid gamer, Jason’s loved ones have honoured his legacy through an annual 24-hour marathon stream titled Spectrefest, named after his gamer tag. In just two years, they’ve raised over $17,000 for Crohn's and Colitis Canada, with the hope of making a meaningful impact on the lives of Canadians affected by these diseases.

What constitutes a Go Original fundraiser?
There are many different types of fundraisers you can organize through Go Original! Ultimately, your Go Original fundraiser can involve any type of event that does not fit within Go Challenge or Go Celebrate—whether you plan to stream or host a fundraiser with your colleagues or classmates. The options are limitless! For help getting started, be sure to check out our Fundraising Checklist.
I am hosting a bake sale for my Go Original fundraiser. Will individuals who purchase baked goods be eligible for a tax receipt?
In accordance with CRA guidelines, any donor that receives a good or service in exchange for their donation is not eligible for a tax receipt. This includes bake sales, silent auctions, fundraising concerts, commissioning art projects, or yard sales.
